Life Resources :: Outrageously Happy

Outrageously Happy

Posted by admin on July 8, 2013

Previously, I mentioned how my dad loved the Peanuts cartoon.  Last winter, as I was doing some Christmas ornament shopping, I ran across a framed cartoon.  Linus and Charlie Brown appear to be having a deep conversation on their wall.  Charlie Brown asks Linus if he thinks about the future.  Linus answers that he does.  Charlie Brown then asks “What do you think you’d like to be when you grow up?”   Linus’ response is poetic, “Outrageously happy”.   Of course, I couldn’t pass it up.  The framed cartoon sits prominently on the desk in my office.

What if your goal was to be outrageously happy like Linus?  What would outrageously happy look like?  What would outrageously happy really feel like? What would you be doing if you were outrageously happy and who would be sharing in your happiness?

Often we are clearer about what we don’t want than what we do want in our lives.  What if you could create what you desire?    What if you could begin to outline how you would be spending your time?  What if you chose who was involved in your life based on how you felt when you were with them?  How would you give to others?  How would the world be better because you were here?  What goals would you seek to accomplish?

Our happiness, and really every aspect of our lives, depends upon the decisions we make on a daily basis.  Will you choose to be happy today or will you let outside events rob you of your decision to be happy?  Will you decide to take action to create the life you desire?

I loved this quote.  I found it again in the book I have in honor of my father, Instant Happy by Karen Salmansohn.

“The best things happen at the exit ramp from your comfort zone”.

If everything you want is just outside your comfort zone, what are you willing to do to take the risk to make things happy?
