Change Your Thoughts and Your Feelings Will Follow

Some days when I wake up I really want to feel differently.  Not so much the aches and pains (although some days those are there), but more so with my emotions.  Some days I wake up (please tell me I’m not alone) and just don’t have the energy and the positivity I’d love to have to start my day.

One of the best strategies I’ve learned for changing my feelings though was from Jodi Nicholson of Success Coach Institute.  Jodi is an expert at expressing gratitude.  She has taught me to be grateful each and every day.  So, when I wake up in the morning and want to change how I feel, I start with changing my thoughts.    By focusing deeply on at least five things I’m grateful for, I begin to notice a shift in my emotions.  I feel more positive, more energized and more prepared to start the day the way I prefer.

We often try to wish our feelings away, i.e., “I wish I didn’t feel this way.”  Maybe you’ve had some luck with that, but most people I know haven’t.  By paying attention to what thoughts are running through our heads and consciously changing those thoughts, we can change the way we feel.

Give yourself permission to think differently and you will feel differently!
